UNMIN’s plan

KATHMANDU: The United Nations Mission in Nepal (UMMIN) is to start a radio programme with an objective of informing the people on how the UNMIN and United Nations Team in Nepal have been assisting the peace process in Nepal. The 15-minute-long programme ‘Voice of UNMIN’ would be broadcast twice a week, states a press release issued by the UNMIN. The programme to be broadcast under the coordination of Radio Nepal would be provided to all radio stations. — RSS

RJP’s concern

KATHMANDU: Chairman of the Rastriya Janashakti Party (RJP) Surya Bahadur Thapa on Tuesday compared the activities of some of the political parties with “black clouds” hovering in the “clear skies”. “I was optimistic that constituent assembly elections would be held on time. But now, the activities of some of the parties in the government has raised serious suspicion,” Thapa told party workers at a programme here on Tuesday. — HNS

Biratnagar closed

BIRATNAGAR: CPN-UML cadres, protesting the act of hurting Biratnagar coordinator of the UML affiliated People’s Volunteers and member of Morang district Sports Development Committee Parshuram Basnet by firing on Monday evening closed Biratnagar bazaar on Tuesday. JTMM-J Morang coordinator Raj owned up the incident on Tuesday. UML cadres disrupted traffic for one hour. — HNS

JTMM-G to hold talks

ITAHARI: The Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha (JTMM)-Goit has expressed readiness to sit for talks with the government. Issuing a statement here on Tuesday, Morang-Sunsari in-charge Sanket said his group was ready to sit for talks if the government invites for the same. The date and location of the talks to be held with the United Nations prior to the dialogue with the government has already been decided, the statement said. Sanket said that the dialogue between his group and the UN would be held in a location in Morang or Sunsari. — RSS

RPP-N’s stand

KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal (RPP-N) has asked the government to create an environment favourable for an election to a constituent assembly slated for November 22. The party said the government has failed to provide security even to the officials, including Chief District Officers. According to a press statement issued on Tuesday, the party has formed a committee under the coordination of Kamal Thapa to draft the party’s manifesto for the CA polls. — HNS

NC activist abducted

GULMI: YCL cadres abducted Nepali Congress local leader Rekha Thapa from Chhaldipanaha of Hastichaur VDC while she was on her way to the party office in Tamghas on Tuesday. Gulmi district NC committee has appealed for her safe release. — RSS
