Bagmati fest

Kathmandu: With a view to conserving the Bagmati river and making it one of the tourist destinations in the country, the Nepal River Conservation Trust is organising the Bagmati River Sports as part of the Bagmati Festival for nine days beginning on Friday. Organisers said the event will feature rafting and kayaking. — HNS

Examinee expelled

Phidim: An examinee and an invilgilator were expelled on Wednesday at two separate SLC supplementary exam centres in Panchthar. While Narayan Sapkota was expelled for trying to adopt unfair means in today’s English paper at the Vidyabardan centre, police head constable Hasta Shrestha was caught aiding Sapkota by taking the question paper out of the examination hall. — HNS

Youth abducted

RAJBIRAJ: An armed group of seven masked persons on Tuesday night abducted 26-year-old Harenarayan Yadav of Saptari’s Jamunimadherapura-3 Andipatti Tole. The unidentified group called up Yadav’s family members and demanded a ransom of Rs 2,00,000 for his release, family members said. — HNS

Woman killed

NARAYANGARH: Unidentified persons on Tuesday night stabbed to death a woman in Chitwan’s Ratnanagar. Roshani Khatun, 25, who was injured in the incident, died on the way to a hospital, police said.— HNS
