KATHMANDU: Finn Thilsted, ambassador of Denmark to Nepal, on Monday said that the responsibility of building a new Nepal rests with the youth. Opening the Nepal Youth Forum established under the presidency of Pradip Pariyar, the ambassador said: “It’s nice to be young, but the youth also have responsibility for the future.” — HNS

RPP’s message

Kathmandu: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) on Monday condoled the death of former Indian Prime Minister, Chandra Shekhar. “He was a statesman and a great friend of Nepal. Nepalis will miss him,” the party said in a statement. Meanwhile, the RPP objected to a news report published in The Himalayan Times, which stated that RPP leader Jog Mehar Shrestha, among others, had supported the king’s February 1 takeover. The party said it had criticised the takeover since the very beginning. — HNS

Baidhya’s take

KATHMANDU: The CPN-Maoist has “reached a conclusion” that constituent assembly polls cannot be held when the king is around, a senior Maoist leader, Mohan Baidhya, said at the Reporters’ Club on Monday. “The polls cannot be conducted unless the country is announced a republic by removing the king before the polls,” he said. — HNS
