VDC secy abducted

Siraha: The Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha-Jwala Singh (JTMM-J) cadres on Monday abducted the secretary of Mohanpur Kamapur VDC, Surya Narayan Das, for not paying tax to the party. “Das was abducted as he did not pay us tax,” JTMM-J Siraha in-charge Tuphan Singh Bidrohi said. Two JTMM-J cadres abducted Das from Kushaha Laxminiha chowk of Siraha while he was returning home. A rural heath worker Ram Ratan Yadav, who was also abducted with Das, was, however, released later. — HNS

Bandh called off

POKHARA: The Gandaki-Dhaulagiri Zonal Public Transport Entrepreneurs’ Coordination Committee on Tuesday withdrew a transport bandh it had called for Wednesday after an agreement was reached during talks with the Nepal Truck and Tanker Entrepreneurs’ Federation, Supply Entrepreneurs Federation and the government on Monday, the coordination committee informed. — HNS
