UNMIN ‘satisfied’
KATHMANDU: Officials of the United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) on Thursday expressed satisfaction over the process of verification of the Maoists’ People’s Liberation Army. They said the process was “smooth” in the Chulachuli cantonment in Ilam where 3,221 registered Maoist combatants are putting up. — HNS

BARA: A gang of 15 armed dacoits looted valuables from Annapurna Textiles at Prasauni-2 in Bara on Wednesday night. The dacoits, after locking up seven staffers of the textile company in a room, looted 45 kgs of copper wire, a mobile set, three torchlights and Rs 140 from the security guard, police said. — HNS
Nepalis killed
NEW DELHI: Two Nepalis were buried by a landslide triggered by incessant rains for the last few days at Bhojogari in Sikkim in eastern India on Wednesday night. According to DIG Ashok Sachdeva, the dead have been identified as Om Bahadur Thapa and his wife Karma Thapa. The landslide that occurred at 11:00 pm also blocked the main road leading to the city, police said. — HNS

BHAKTAPUR: Janak Independent Employees’ Association (JIEA), an umbrella organisation of employees of Janak Sikshya Samagri Kendra (JSSK), launched a protest from Wednesday demanding professional rights for the employees and reforms in the JSSK management. — RSS
NA men electrocuted
GAIGHAT: Three army men died when a live electric wire fell on the truck they were travelling in on Thursday. Six other soldiers were critically injured in the incident. The truck was returning to the ‘Kha’ Battalion of Nandabux at Taradhani of Katari in Udayapur when an 11, 000 voltage live wire fell on it. Subedar Rajan Khadka and soldiers Milan Basnet and Birendra Prasad Mandal died on the spot, police said. — HNS

KATHMANDU: The central working commitee meeting of the Rastriya Janashakti Party (RJP) will be held at the party office at Kamalpokhari on Friday, the party said on Thursday. BIRATNAGAR: Secretaries of 13 VDCs of Morang, including Rangeli, Dainiya, Mahadeva, Jhakiya, Nocha, Pokhariya and Barangeli, have been displaced from their VDCs in the past one week following threats from various armed groups. — RSS
