Abducted man back
BARA: Proprietor of a medical store in Bara, Hridaya Narayan Yadav, who was abducted by an unidentified group on April 18, came into the contact of his family on Monday. Another local drug entrepreneur Anil Gupta said Yadav fled from the clutches of the kidnappers from an unknown location in India. Nepal CMA district chairman Anil Pandey, issuing a statement, said Yadav was safe and sound. — HNS
Kattel blames parties
POKHARA: CPN (Integrated) leader Rishi Kattel on Monday blamed the political parties for not addressing the sentiments expressed by the people during Jana Andolan II. Speaking at an interaction here, Kattel said: “It’s sad that the government could not even announce the date of the constituent assembly (CA) polls.” He added that the CA polls were deferred because of the NC. Kaski Bam Morcha chairperson Iman Singh Gurung said the CA polls should be held after parliament declares a republic. — HNS
Chakka jam staged
NEPALGUNJ: Cadres of the CPN-Maoist staged a four-hour-long chakka jam in Banke and Bardiya districts on Monday to protest Sunday’s incident in which district-based Maoist leaders, including three Maoist MPs, were beaten up by the police. Traffic in Banke and Bardiya was disrupted from 8 am till noon, police said. The Maoist cadres were deployed at main chowks to disrupt traffic. No untoward incident took place during the chakka jam, police said. — HNS
250 huts torched
RUPANDEHI: Over 250 huts at Naya Sirjananagar of Butwal municipality- 13 were burnt down on Monday. Seven persons including Durga Narayan Bhusal and Khageshwor Bhusal of Naharpur village, saying that squatters constructed huts in their land, set fire to the huts. “There is more than two bighas of land. We have the land ownership certificates; so, we, people of Naharpur, set fire to the huts”, Durga Narayan said, adding that the act was performed as per an all-party agreement. Though three fire engines were called to control the fire, the land owners did not allow to control the fire, SI at Area Police Office (Butwal), Bhupal KC said. — HNS

KATHMANDU: Three persons including two women were injured on Monday in explosion of explosives planted inside the perimeter of the Nepali Army team on duty for security of the Telecom Repeater Station in Bhirpustung, Lamjung, the Nepali Army, Public Relations Directorate said. — RSS
Abductee released
SIRAHA: Sandeshwor Shah of Ramnagar Mirchaiya-9 who was abducted on Saturday was released from Majuwa forest on Monday. The abductors have demanded Rs 5 lakh for
the release, Rekha Shah, Sandeshwor’s daughter said. Maoist cadres and locals encircled the site where Shah was kept and released him, locals said. — HNS
Republic soon: Sitaula
Damak: Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula has said that Nepal is heading towards a republic. Stating that NC is not in favour of monarchy, Sitaula said the unity of the eight political parties will root out remnants of autocracy. Dacoity in Morang
ITAHARI: Armed dacoits looted property worth over one lakh rupees from Dulari-7 of Morang district on Sunday night. The dacoits looted seven tolas of gold from the house of Padma Adhikari. They also looted Rs 8,000 from the house of Mani Ram Rai. The dacoits fled towards the south after the looting. — RSS

KATHMANDU: On the recommendation of the Kathmandu Valley Town Development Committee, the Kathmandu Valley Construction Guidelines-2064 has been approved as per the decision of the Council of Ministers. The guidelines will be effective from Tuesday. — RSS
