Private schools shut

JANAKPUR: All private schools in the city were shut to protest the sacking of three teachers in the Don Bosco School on Wednesday. Mithila Private and Residential Teachers’ Association organised the shutdown. — HNS

Moriarty returns

Kathmandu: US ambassador to Nepal James F Moriarty returned on Thursday after a two-week trip to Washington DC. Upon arrival at the TIA, he said the US still considered Maoist chairman Prachanda “the head of a terrorist organisation.” — HNS

Dhaulagiri scaled

KATHMANDU: Five members of the Dhaulagiri-I Inaki Expedition scaled the Dhaulagiri peak on different dates. The Tourism Ministry said Ignacio Ochoa De Olza and Jorge Egocheaga Rodriguez scaled the peak on April 26, while Renzo Benedetti scaled it on April 29. Joelle Brupbacher and Romanian Horia Dan Colibasanu climbed it on May 1. — HNS
