Abductee killed
RAJBIRAJ: Activists of the Jay Krishna Goit-led Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha (JTMM) today killed 40-year-old Sukhdev Shah of Banarjhula-4 in Saptari district who was abducted three weeks ago. According to locals, JTMM-Goit activists murdered Shah after taking him away from the village. The family members cremated Shah’s body. JTMM-Goit Saptari district coordinator Shyam said he was killed for spying on JTMM-Goit. — HNS
Dahal named advisor
KATHMANDU: Maheswor Dahal, who is editor of Maoist-leaning Janadesh weekly, has been appointed advisor to Minister of Information and Communication Krishna Bahadur Mahara. The decision to this effect was taken by the cabinet council on Wednesday. — HNS
‘Kingpins’ grilled
KATHMANDU: The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Wednesday interrogated former ministers of the king Gyanendra-led Cabinet, Buddhiman Tamang and Madhukar Sumsher Rana, for their alleged involvement in misuse of state treasury and corruption. A CIAA official said the two were quizzed based on the Rayamajhi Commission report. — HNS
Rs 537.5m aid
KATHMANDU: Japan has recently approved an assistance of Rs 537.5 million under the Counterpart Fund of Non-Project Grant Aid for implementing various projects in Nepal. According to a press release, the projects approved are: Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Development of the Rural Areas, Drinking Water and Sanitation, Disaster Management, Education and Agriculture. — HNS

Boy hurt in attack
BIRGUNJ: A 15-year-old boy, Markus Chettri, was injured when activists of the Nepal Defence Army hurled a bomb into Grace Children’s Home situated at Radhemai Tole in Birgunj-16 on Wednesday, police said. — HNS
