BHAIRAHAWA: One person was killed and six others injured when a jeep bound for Sunauli from Bhairahawa turned turtle in Bhairahawa on Saturday. Name of the killed person is yet to be identified, police said. — HNS
Abductee calls office
BARA: A kidnapped worker of the Kalaiya branch of the Diprox Development Bank, Loknath Poudel, came in contact with the bank on Saturday. Activists of the Jay Krishna Goit-led JTMM had abducted Poudel, a resident of Dhaibung-8, Rasuwa, from Rauwadi of Bara on Thursday. — HNS

Royals’ land seized
ITAHARI: Maoist cadres on Saturday captured 14 bighas of land in Itahari of Sunsari that belonged to the royal family. “The Maoists captured the land registered in the name of late king Birendra’s father-in-law’s family members in Itahari municipality-8. They also captured Golden Hill Pvt Ltd Resort situated on the land,” said Amrit Karki, proprietor of the resort. The Maoist-affiliated Federation of the All Nepal National Trade Unions’ Sunsari chairman Kabi Subedi said: “The Maoists will run the resort from tomorrow.” — HNS
Seminar on education
KASKI: A three-day west region-level seminar on educational development began here on Saturday. Altogether 60 teachers and district education officers from 16 districts are taking part in the seminar. 16 houses collapse

Traders robbed
TANAHUN: An armed group made off with two lakh rupees from businessmen, who were heading to Janakpur from Kathmandu on a truck, at Krishna Bhir along the Prithvi Highway on Friday. The dacoits fled on a private car towards Pokhara via Mugling, police said, adding that policemen will be deployed in Damauli, Aanbukhaireni and Khairenitar along the Prithvi Highway and other parts of the district to nab the dacoits. — HNS
