BARA: Around 200 Dalits from the Chamar, Dusadh, Dhobi and Dum communities got their citizenship certificates on the basis of ancestry in Gadhal VDC in Bara. The Citizenship Certificate Distribution Team gave them the papers, Rup Narayan Paswan, the coordinator of the Dalit Network (Bara) said. — HNS
Truck-hit kills one
KATHMANDU: One Santa Bahadur Lama died on the spot when a truck hit him at Bar Bhanjyang near Thankot on Sunday, police said. The truck hit him as soon as he got off from it, police said. Lama had boarded the truck at Nagdhunga of Dhading district. — HNS
Infant abandoned
DHANKUTA: An infant was found in a drain in front of the Dhankuta District Irrigation Office on Sunday. The office staffers found the infant wrapped in a cloth and took it to the district hospital. Hospital sources said the baby’s health is good. Investigation about the unclaimed infant is underway, said the Dhankuta district police office. – HNS
JTMM sets off bomb
RAJBIRAJ: Cadres of the Jwala Singh-headed Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha (JTMM) detonated a bomb on the premises of a house at Rajbiraj–5 on Sunday, police said, adding there were no damages. The house belongs to Mahesh Luintel. Owning up the explosion, Saptari district coordinator of the Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha, Kailas, said the explosion was carried out to warn against the exploitation of the Terai people. — HNS
TU results out
KATHMANDU: The Tribhuvan University, Institute of Engineering, has published the results of the Proficiency Certificate-level Mechanical, Automobile and Regeneration and Air Conditioning Engineering third year second semester regular and make-up examinations. The examinations were held in October and November last year. — RSS
LMC’s parking spaces
KATHMANDU: The Lalitpur sub-Metropolitan City (LMC) decided to lease out public spaces at Gwarko, Manbhawan, Kumaripati and Harihar Bhawan around the UN complex for public parking to local contractors, said Dan Man Shakya, an official at the LMC.
With this decision, the LMC will regulate the existing parking spaces outside the Department of Transport Management in Kusunti and Patan Appellate Court in Lagankhel, Shakya said. — HNS
Locals’ protest
KATHMANDU: Locals of Kalimati said on Sunday they will come out on the road during bandhs and transport strikes to prevent agitators from burning tyres in their locality. They also said they will not allow agitators to burn tyres from the Bishnumati bridge to Rabi Bhawan. — RSS

Exam cancelled
KATHMANDU: Sent-up examination of Mathematics, which was scheduled to be held in Lalitpur and Bhaktapur districts on Sunday, could not be held due to the transport strike. Section officer at the District Education Office, Lalitpur, Dil Kumari Devkota, said the Math exam will be held later. The sent-up exam began on Thursday. — RSS
