Madhesh bandh
KATHMANDU: Nepal Sadbhawana Party (Anandidevi) on Sunday said that the party has decided to organise a Madhesh bandh on December 25 to pressurise the state to address the issues on proportionate and equal rights of Madheshis. Various programmes are scheduled for December 18 through 24. Meanwhile, a report from Siraha said cadres NSP-A staged a demonstration in Siraha on Sunday demanding federal governing system and inclusive and loktatantik Nepal. They also demanded announcement of constituencies on the basis of population and establishment of independent Madhesh federal state. — HNS
Elephant kills one
JANAKPUR: One person was killed in Dhanusa on Saturday night and an elderly woman was severely injured in Mahottari on Sunday morning after wild elephants attacked them. A wild elephant killed Hajari Yadav, 34, of Dhalkebar in Dhanusha. Durga Maya Ale of Bardibas-8, Mahottari, was critically injured from an attack of a wild elephant, District Police Office Mahottari said. Ale is undergoing treatment in Janakpur Hospital. — HNS
PLA men injured
SURKHET: Seven People’s Liberation Army personnel (PLA) sustained injuries when a detonator bomb exploded in a camp of PLA at Lekhpharsa in Surkhet on Saturday. “The detonator bomb exploded while shifting it from one place to another in the camp and the injured are undergoing treatment in the camp,” assistant commander of sixth division of Maoist Army, Deepak, said. — HNS
