CJ, Speaker to meet

Kathmandu: Chief Justice (CJ) Dilip Kumar Paudel has fixed a meeting with Speaker Subas Nembang on Monday morning to discuss about the recent recommendations of the Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee, a source close to CJ told this daily. One killed in accident

SARLAHI: A 42-year-old woman died when she fell off a school bus at Hariwan VDC, Sarlahi, on the Mahendra highway on Sunday. Laxmi Mainali of Karmaiya VDC 8 died on the way to hospital in Birgunj after she fell off the bus with registration No Ba 1 Kha 5989, said inspector at the Sarlahi District Police Office, Rajendra Shrestha. — HNS

4m Euro pledged

KATHMANDU: Minister for Foreign Affairs of Belgium, Karel de Gucht, on Sunday wrapped up his two-day visit to Nepal by pledging assistance worth 4 million Euro to Nepal for the next fiscal year. Gucht announced the assistance after meeting PM Girija Prasad Koirala on Sunday. He said Belgium was keen to assist in “process of rehabilitation”. — HNS

House panel meet

KATHMANDU: A meeting on Sunday of the House of Representatives, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Committee decided to finalize the National Judicial Academy Bill-2063 BS following extensive clause-wise discussion on it and present it before the next meeting of the HoR. — RSS

KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister for Foreign Affairs KP Sharma Oli has said that Japan has always remained a good friend and a companion in the development of Nepal. BHAKTAPUR: Central President of the Nepal Workers’ and Peasants’ Party (NWPP) Narayan Man Bijukchhe ruled out any possibility for the Maoists to be successful in their strategy for urban-based agitation in the present circumstances.
