Accountant murdered

BAGLUNG: An unidentified group murdered Chandra Poudel, 51, an accountant of the Baglung appellate court, on Thursday evening. Poudel, a resident of Khurkot VDC-2, Parbat, was murdered at Ketichaur of the district while returning from office, locals said. According to the Parbat District Police Office, he sustained head injury inflicted by a khukuri. Police have held Poudel’s son, Nirmal. — HNS

RAJBIRAJ: A group of robbers decamped with goods and cash worth over Rs 400,000 from six houses at Dighawa Village Development Committee, Saptari district, on Thursday night, victims said. The robbers even forced women, who were sleeping, to hand over ornaments.— RSS

Scribe shot dead

GAUR: An unidentified group of persons has reportedly shot dead Shiva Shankar Bharati, a correspondent of Swatantra Saptak on Thursday afternoon. The group shot him in the back near Baluwa VDC while he was on his way to Katahariya bazaar, the area police office, Garuda, said, adding that investigation is on. — RSS

Maoists’ mea culpa

CHITWAN: Maoist supremo Prachanda and other central leaders on Friday called on the injured and the relatives of victims of Chitwan’s Bandarmudhe incident and begged apology at a programme held at Fulbari village in Chitwan’s Fulbari VDC. Thirty-two injured and the relatives of those who died in that incident attended the programme. The leaders also interacted with the injured for nearly one-and-a-half hours. On the occasion, Prachanda said that the Bandarmudhe incident was the most tragic within the people’s war. He vowed that his party would come up with a package for compensating those affected in that incident. Prachanda promised that all the demands placed by the Bandarmudhe incident victims’ committee would be dealt with fairly, said president of the committee Mukti Prasad Neupane. — HNS
