Youth hurt in firing :

POKHARA: Rajendra Thapa, 35, of Amar Singh chowk in Pokhara Sub-Metropolitan City-10 was injured when a neighbour shot at him at the hospital chowk near Arati hotel on Sunday morning. Avisekh Gurung, 19, resorted to firing when a fight

ensued among a group of youths in a petty issue, police said. “A group of youths, including Rajendra, started making noise. Gurung asked them not to make the noise. He later opened fire after the youths refused to fall quiet,” the owner of the hotel, Hari Timilsina, said. Police have arrested Gurung, a source at the Kaski District Police Office (DPO) said.

Rajendra, who was shot in a leg, has been sent to Kathmandu for further treatment. — HNS

Hearing deferred :

KATHMANDU: The hearing on a case against the acting Chief of Army staff, Lt Gen Rukmangat Katwal, scheduled for Sunday, was differed for the sixth time. Chief Justice Dilip Kumar Paudel assigned the case to a single bench of Justice Kedar Prasad Giri. However, Giri, saying that he was busy with another hearing, did not conduct the hearing. — HNS

3-day power cut :

PYUTHAN: Pyuthan district will experience power cut for three days beginning Sunday, Bishnu Prasad Yadav, the chief of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) office in Pyuthan, said. According to Yadav, power will be cut for 12 hours on Sunday and for four hours on Monday and Tuesday. — HNS
