One dead as log bridge collapses in rural Jajarkot

JAJARKOT: A 40-year-old man died after a log bridge he was crossing over Sankat River collapsed under his weight in Triveni Nalagad Municipality-3 of Jajarkot district on Monday Evening.

The deceased has been identified as a local resident Hum Bahadur Pariyar.

Pariyar fell into the river after the log bridge collapsed yesterday evening. He was swept around 200 metres downhill by the river current, according to the district Police Office, Jajarkot.

Pariyar was heading to home after getting his wife's health checked-up at the Kaina-based Health Centre when the bridge gave way, according to local Bharat Bali.

Police with the help of Locals recovered the body of Pariyar in four hours.

Meanwhile, police filed the report of the incident before sending the body of the deceased to the Dalli-based Primary Health Centre for postmortem.
