SALYAN: A woman died and two others sustained injuries after the pickup van they were travelling on fell below the road in Sharada Municipality-13 of Salyan district on Monday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Hukumi BK (55), and injured as her husband Bal Bahadur BK (65) and driver Kamal BK (21), all residents of Pipalneta in Bagchaur Municipality-10 of the district, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Birendra Bahadur Shahi at the District Police Office, Salyan.

According to police, the van (Lu 1 Cha 5664) en route from Syanikhal to Sri Nagar of the district plunged some 200 metres below at Dangimod today morning.

The injured duo has been undergoing treatment at Srinagar-based local health facility, with Thapa in critical condition, informed DSP Shahi.

Meanwhile, further investigation into the case is underway, said police.
