KATHMANDU: A person died after the scooter he was riding on met with an accident in Nalinchok of Suryabinayak Municipality-9 in Bhaktapur on Wednesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Prakash Manandhar (39) of Banepa Municipality-6 in Kavre district.

According to police, the incident occurred when the scooter (Ba 68 Pa 4471) en route from Jagati to Banepa collided head-on with a truck (Na 6 Kha 5919) near Ganesh Petrol Pump at 8:30 pm yesterday, injuring scooter rider Manandhar.

The critically injured Manandhar was rushed to the Bhaktapur Hospital, where he breathed his last during the course of treatment, informed Deputy Superintendent of Police Krishna Prasain, Spokesperson at the Metropolitan Police Range, Bhaktapur.

Meanwhile, the local police have impounded the tipper and detained its driver for further investigation.
