A person died of scrub typhus in the course of treatment at Chitwan Medical Hospital in Chitwan on Sunday.

The victim is Sabita Karki, 25, of Rupakot VDC, Tanahun.

Earlier, a woman of Mangalpur, Chitwan had succumbed to the disease at the same health facility some days ago.

At least one patient died while 23 others were diagnosed with the disease at the hospital in the past week. Of 39 patients, 23 have scrub typhus.

Chitwan Medical College Director Daya Ram Lamsal said that the hospital had found 104 patients of the disease while examining 222 patients.

As many as 127 persons have been identified as victims of the disease in the hospital so far, according to the report submitted to District Public Health Office.

Bharatpur Hospital started to check patients of the disease from yesterday and a person was diagnosed with the disease on the first day.
