One killed in Birgunj shootout
BIRGUNJ: A gang of unidentified gunmen today opened fire at Pashupati Transport here in Adarshanagar of Birgunj, killing an employee in broad daylight.
A seriously injured Rajeshwor Dube, 55, succumbed to his bullet injuries while undergoing treatment in AMC Hospital, Birta.
It is the second such fatal attack in the business outlet within the last one week.
The armed assailants broke into the office in the afternoon and shot at Dube indiscriminately. The deceased originally hails from Areraj of Motihari, India.
In the wake of the murder, the infuriated businessmen of Birgunj protested carrying Dube’s body and closed Birgunj from 6:30 pm. According to Santosh Shah, an eyewitness, three criminals, who had come in a motorbike, barged into the office and fled towards Ashokbatika on the two wheeler after the attack. The motorbike of Passion brand bore no number plate.
The deceased had been an employee at the enterprise for the last 20 years.
DSP Rajendraman Shrestha, District Police Office, Parsa, said that they had already begun raiding the possible hideouts of the criminal gangs.
Prior to this, Hasmuddin Hawari, 30, of Pidari Guthi-4, Bisunpurawa, Parsa, was killed in a police action after the police was informed that a criminal gang had entered MDS Traders a few days ago. However, the police are yet to disclose the matter.
