One succumbs to disease in Doti
Dhangadi, August 23
A woman infected with dengue breathed her last while undergoing treatment in Doti yesterday.
Chhatra Malashi, 42, of Thapla in Dipayal Silgadi Municipality, succumbed to the disease while undergoing treatment at Maya Hospital, Dhangadi. Malashi was admitted to the hospital a few days ago after she complained of headache and fever.
The hospital source said that Malashi was infected with scrub typhus in addition to dengue. “Malashi could not be saved as the disease had reached an advanced stage,” said Dr Bijay Bartola.
Dr Khagendra Bam chief of Health Department in Dhangadi Sub-Metropolitan City said that dengue cases were reported even in hilly districts of late. Dr Bam said that climate change might have helped Aedes albopictus mosquito to migrate
in the hilly region leading to increasing number of dengue cases. Dr Bam said that the sub-metropolis was organising an awareness programme against dengue.
Public Health Officer at Far-western Health Directorate Ramesh Malashi said dengue cases were on the rise in the province. According to him, four dengue cases were detected in Darchula while three cases of dengue in Kailali and two cases each in Kanchanpur and Dadeldhura have been reported. “We have sent necessary kits to test dengue in Doti and other districts of late,” said Malashi.
