PHALEBAS: An online news portal — loktantraonline.com — was launched on Tuesday. Lawmaker Bikas Lamsal inaugurated the online news site.

The objective of the newly-launched online news is to provide independent information, news, views and analysis to readers. Lawmaker Lamsal stressed that news should be accurate, balanced and credible. Federation of Nepali Journalists district President Chhabilal Tiwari, Deputy Superintendent of Police Dilip Ghimire, president of Parbat Chamber of Commerce and Industry Hariom Sharma, among others, spoke on the role of news media as a reliable watchdog of society.

Kishor Sapkota is the editor of the online. There are more than a dozen online news portals in operation in Parbat. Similarly, the number of FM radios in the district has reached five and one cable television is also in operation.  There are two dailies, 11 weeklies and four quarterlies published from Parbat district.
