KATHMANDU: The Department of Civil Registration under the Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development has expedited online registration of personal details such as births, marriages and deaths.

The motive for registering personal details of such occurrences digitally is to make the service systematic, said Director General Anil Kumar Thakur at the Department.

In the Kathmandu Valley, the registration process started from October 2014 and efforts have been expedited since May 2017 to accommodate all municipalities, rural municipalities and wards, according to Thakur.

Thakur said that the service is being delivered through a total of 687 offices in the nation, adding that the Department has been providing training to employees across the country to carry out online registration.

Likewise, the Department has directed all sub metropolitan cities, municipalities and rural municipalities to provide the service online by coming May 29.
