Outages spur NEA branch office lockout

Siraha, August 2 :

Locals, enraged at the erratic power supply, today padlocked the office of the chief of the Siraha-based sub branch of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA). The people of Siraha say they have been living through erratic power supply ever since the Siraha-based NEA branch office was transformed into a sub branch office five years ago. The people have also accused the Lahan-based NEA Branch Office of not providing prompt service.

An ANNFSU member, Mahendra Mukhiya, said the office was locked because locals were fed up of erratic power supply. However, employees of the sub branch said lack of equipment was to blame for poor service.
