A total of 4,088 people remain unaccounted for in the Bhotekoshi flood disaster in Rasuwa, while search and rescue teams have recovered 1,341 bodies so far, according to the latest update as of 7:40am on Friday.
The missing include 3,438 Nepali nationals, 2,863 men and 575 women, and 606 foreign nationals, comprising 269 men, 332 women and five whose gender was not disclosed.
Of the bodies recovered, 523 are male, 325 female and 413 are partial remains. Authorities have so far safely placed 1,037 bodies underground, while 88 bodies have been handed over.
The scale of the identification effort is also reflected in the DNA collection. Samples have been collected from 1,286 deceased people and 1,186 relatives, totalling 2,472 samples.
The latest figures show that 1,297 cases remain unidentified in the website records, while 3,098 people are currently staying at holding centres.
Nepal Police has deployed 7,912 personnel in the search and rescue operation. The police have also conducted 117 public-awareness programmes, attended by 42,361 people.
The update also states that 65 people affected by the disaster have been accounted for among the deployed police personnel, while 25 remain out of contact.
