Over 3,000 TB patients found in Far-Western Region

BAITADI:  As many as 3,300 tuberculosis patients were found in the Far-Western Development Region, according to Regional Health Directorate, Dipayal, Doti.

Among the total, 1,139 are women and 2,220 men are infected from tuberculosis in the Region, the Directorate stated.

The 2071-72 BS statistics said that number of patients with communicable tuberculosis is 1,649 including 546 women and 1,130 men.

As many as 424 TB patients are in need of receiving treatment again, said Manoj Ojha, "We have attained 87 per cent of the target to identify TB patients in the Region. Among the TB patients, 75 per cent are surviving with lung TB," he informed.

While collecting data based on population, Kanchanpur has seen the highest number of TB patients (180 per 100,000) while Achham the lowest with 70 out of 100,000.
