Paddy fields inundated in Rautahat

Paddy fields in over one-and-a-half dozen VDCs in Rautahat were inundated by the flood in the Jhanjh Khola triggered by incessant rainfall today morning.

Hundreds of bigaha of paddy fields were submerged in flood water at Pachrukhi, Saruatha, Jhunjhunuwa, Pathara, Matsari, Jayanagar, Mithuawa, and Bhediyahi VDCs, among other places.

The incessant rainfall and flood water from the Jhanjh Khola have damaged more than one-and-a-half dozen houses in different VDCs. Sanjay Singh, a local, said that some families were taking shelter at their relatives’ houses after flood water gushed into their houses. Technical Assistant Rambabu Yadav said that the inundation of paddy fields had made farmers worried.

Rautahat DSP Nabin Krishna Bhandari said that water levels in the Bagmati and the Lal Bakaiya rivers have risen and security personnel have been put on high alert to avert possible disaster.
