Pakistani documentary wins Ram Bahadur Trophy at Film Southasia 2015
KATHMANDU: A Walnut Tree, a documentary by Pakistan's Ammar Aziz, won the Ram Bahadur Trophy in the Film Southasia 2015.
The regional documentary festival concluded in Lalitpur on Sunday.
The documentary also received a purse of USD 2,000 as the price.
The documentary presents plights of people who were forced to live as refugees due to the fight between Pakistani army and the Taliban. It is a documentation of sweet past, unsafe present and bleak future of a family, said the organisers.
Chief Guest of the event, Indian movie director Adoor Gopalakrishnan, presented the award at the ceremony today.
Likewise, Blood Leaves its Trails by Iffat Fatima (India) was declared the runner up in the competition.
Drawing the Tiger by Amy Benson, Ramyata Limbu (Nepal) won the UNICEF Award while On and Off the Records by Pratik Biswas (India) received the Debut Award.
