Pandit urges timely constitution

RAJBIRAJ: Minister for General Administration Lalbabu Pandit on Saturday suggested that the major political parties draft the new constitution with maximum consensus on the stipulated date. Speaking at a programme organised by Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC) here, Pandit described the constitution as a document with the provision for subsequent amendments and urged the major parties to sit tight on their stance to provide the people with statue on the agreed date. “There are protests over the statute from various walks of life, however, can we afford to squander this long awaited opportunity to promulgate the statute?” he asked. Pandit also urged people and political parties to learn from foreign countries, which have amended their constitution time and again. “It is important to produce a statute on time with room for possible amendments as per the need of the time,” he said. He expressed hope that statute promulgation would put an end to political instability in the country.
