DHANGADHI: A bus parked on the road was set ablaze in Ghodaghodi Municipality-4 of Kailali district, on Sunday night.

According to Chief at Sukhad-based Area Police Office, Police Inspector Harisharan Bhatta, an unidentified group torched the bus (Na 4 Kha 7350) belonging to Kakrebihar Yatayat and registered in the name of Dhanraj Shahi of Dailekh district yesterday. The bus had been parked at Simthari for a few days.

Son of Shahi had been operating the transportation service after acquiring the bus from his father on a monthly lease, Inspector Bhatta informed.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Daksha Kumar Basnet at Kailali District Police Office, the bus owner had just renewed the lease of the vehicle on Sunday morning. The DSP quoted the bus owner as saying that he was informed about the arson attack in the following day.

DSP Basnet said an arson attack was carried out on the bus that had been parked on the road despite the requests from locals to move it.

Meanwhile, the investigation into the incident is underway, police informed.
