PHSC begins hearing on proposed ambassadors

KATHMANDU: The Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee under the Legislative-Parliament on Monday began hearing on the four proposed ambassadors to various nations.

Hearing on the proposed ambassador to Australia, Lucky Sherpa, was conducted on Monday while the hearing on six others is scheduled for Tuesday.

During the hearing, Sherpa affirmed that she would underscore economic diplomacy during her time as an ambassador to Australia.

She also assured of enabling environment for high-level meetings between Nepal -Australia if PHSC endorsed her name for the ambassador to Australia.

Earlier, The government had recommended Lucky Sherpa for Australia, Niranjan Kumar Thapa for Israel, Sharmila Parajuli for Oman, Ramesh Prasad Koirala for Qatar, Arjun Bahadur Singh for South Korea, Pratibha Rana for Japan, Yubanath Lamsal for Denmark, Choplal Bhusla for Bangaldesh, Padam Sundas for Baharian, Bhim Krishna Udash for Myanmar, Bishwambher Pyakurel for Sri-Lanka and Mahendra Prasad Singh Rajput for Saudi Arabia.

Of the proposed ambassadors, complaints have been lodged against Parajuli and Koirala.

Meanwhile, The PHSC has summoned them and inquired about the subjects mentioned in the complaints against them.
