Parsa forest guards and smugglers exchange fire
PARSA: A team of forest guards and wooden log smugglers on Sunday night had an encounter in Madhuban Mathawal forest area of Parsa district, leading to exchange of fires.
The guard team patrolling the forest had spotted some smugglers chopping trees in the area. After noticing presence of the guards, the alleged smugglers had open fire, according to police.
The armed forest guards deployed from the Area Forest Office, Badhaniyar, then opened three rounds of fire in retaliation, according to Keshav Raj Ghimire, Parsa Chief District Officer (CDO).
However, there were no human casualties reported, added CDO Ghimire.
Meanwhile, the security personnel recovered various wooden logs being smuggled and bicycles used for the act.
The seized items have been brought to the Area Forest Office in Badhanihar for further investigation, said police.
