Partial effects of Nepal Bandh felt in Rauthat, NA defuses tiffin bomb

RAUTAHAT: Nepal Bandh called by Netra Bikram Chand (Biplav)-led Communist Party of Nepal today has partial effects in Rauthat district.

Biplav-led Maoist cadres have planted a tiffin bomb in front of a private school in Chandrapur Municipality. After the bomb scare, East-West highway was obstructed for two hours.

After the students informed the incident to police, a bomb disposal team led by Captain Baburam Paudel from the nearby Indrabax Battalion disposed of the tiffin bomb around 9 am this morning.

After defusing of the bomb, the East-West Highway resumed its operation, Area Police Office Chandrapur said.

Educational institutions, market, shops, medical stores, business establishments in district-headquarters Gaur, Garuda, Katahari among other places in the district remained open.

District Traffic Police Office Rautahat said, "Traffic movement along the East-West Highway was partially affected by the Nepal Bandh today."

Chief District Officer of Rauthat, Govinda Prasad Rijal said, "Sensitive areas have been heavily guarded, there are no any untoward activities in the district."

Meanwhile, the security agencies have arranged vehicle escorting mechanism in the district.
