Participation up in girls’ education class

Chhinamasta Rural Municipality has started girls education classes with the aim of encouraging girls to go to school in the rural municipality in Saptari.

Participation of girls is said to have increased in classes launched in all seven wards of the rural municipality. Girls’ education was launched in the rural municipality with the initiative of the rural municipality and UNICEF Nepal.

Girls out of school comprise the targeted group. As many as 234 girls from poor communities have been taking classes in 10 different centres of the rural municipality.

The class started from September 17.

Programme Supervisor Dillip Kumar Ram said the number of girls was increasing day by day. He added that girls who never went to school have benefitted the most from the classes.

“We are preparing to send the girls to schools from the next academic session,” he added. Ram said that education materials were provided to them free of cost. “Majority of girls from Dom and Mushahar communities have been taking the classes,” he informed.
