Parties likely to agree on 6-Pradesh model‚ claims Paudel

CHITWAN: Nepali Congress (NC) Vice-President Ram Chandra Paudel has said that major political parties are holding discussions on the modality of carving out six states in the federal Nepal.

He further stated that the name of the Pradeshes would be determined by the concerned Pradesh Assemblies while a Federal Commission would demarcate borders between them.

Speaking at a press meet organised by the Nepal Press Union, Chitwan chapter here today, the NC leader added that the parties are close to an agreement on the six-Pradesh model.

Referring to the four-party meeting held in the capital earlier this morning, leader Paudel urged the leaders to forge consensus rather than prolonging the debate further.

He further pointed out the need of forming a powerful authority for reconstruction of the quake-affected areas. He stressed on unity of people, government and all political parties for resettlement of locals of such regions.
