Parties to merge immediately after polls, says UML chair Oli

We could not go ahead with party unification procedure as everybody was busy with election preparations KP Sharma Oli

Lamjung, November 15

CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli today said unification between the CPN-UML and the CPN-Maoist Centre would take place soon after the upcoming provincial and parliamentary elections.

“We could not go ahead with the party unification procedure as everybody was busy with election preparations. However, consensus has been forged between our parties and CPN-MC Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal is keen about the merger of the two forces after elections,” said UML Chair Oli. He added that the left alliance would form majority government after elections.

He accused the Nepali Congress of being corrupt and said it was not a democratic force. He argued that forming the next majority government for the NC was a pipe dream. Oli further said the incumbent government was a caretaker government. Hence, it had no authority except to hold elections. He charged the government of scrapping the Budhigandaki Hydro power project agreement due to vested interest.

Oli claimed that all common candidates of the left alliance from across the country would be elected. Oli attended an election gathering in Besishahar of Lamjung after addressing an election gathering at Bhachchek Bazaar of Ajirkot Rural Municipality in Gorkha.

CPN-MC Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal could not attend election campaign in Lamjung due to his tight schedule in Gorkha.  Earlier, Oli and Dahal had attended an election campaign in Gorkha.
