Pokhara, May 1

The Nepali Congress announced today that Naresh Shankar Palikhe and Chandrawati Poudel would be running for the posts of mayor and deputy mayor of Pokhara Lekhnath metropolis respectively for the forthcoming local level polls.

The Nepali Congress District Committee had recommended as many as 33 persons for mayoral and 15 for deputy mayoral posts.

Palikhe is a resident of constituency No 3 in Kaski, while Poudel is a resident of constituency No 1. Palikhe was the former deputy mayor of Pokhara sub metropolitan city.

Poudel’s husband, the late Ramji Poudel, had been shot dead in Lekhnath in 2015. CPN-UML has nominated Man Bahadur BC and Manju Gurung as mayoral and deputy mayoral candidates respectively for Pokhara Lekhnath metropolis. RPP has recommended Gita Gurung and Ramesh Khatri as mayoral and deputy mayoral candidates respectively in the metropolitan city.
