Paudel calls budget inflationary

Damauli, June 11

Nepali Congress senior leader Ramchandra Poudel has criticised the ruling CPN-UML over the ‘inflationary budget’, saying that the budget would add unnecessary burden on taxpayers.

Inaugurating a newly-constructed building of Kyamin Village Development Committee in Tanahun on Saturday, Poudel said, “The budget brought by the ruling UML party is out-and-out populist and aims solely to benefit the party. It will push price levels up and make the life of low-income people very difficult.”

On a different note, the Congress party leader also accused the government of not being serious towards implementing the new constitution.

“On the one hand, the government is not taking concrete steps to implement the statute, while on the other hand it is talking about holding the local elections. The government needs to understand that elections cannot be held until the boundaries of provinces are delineated,” he argued.

Stating that his party would stick to its ideological line of democracy and socialism, the NC leader lamented the migration of youth to foreign countries due to lack of employment opportunities at home.
