KATHMANDU: A person died after being hit by a bus in Mithila Municipality-9 of Dhanusha district on Monday night, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Lok Bahadur Basnet (42) of Gaushala Municipality-10 of Mahottari district.

According to police, pedestrian Basnet was critically injured after he was hit by the bus (Na 5 Kha 2029) while walking alongside the road near Shiva Temple at 7:00 pm yesterday.

Basnet succumbed to his injuries on the way to the health facility, informed police.

Meanwhile, the Lalgadh-based Police Post has impounded the involved vehicle and detained its driver for further investigation, said police.
