People reluctant to open up to cops
Dhangadi, September 20
The locals in Kanchanpur have been quite wary of the police administration in the wake of Nirmala Panta’s murder as police had detained an innocent person Dilip Singh Bista and tortured him in the course of investigation. Now they don’t want to talk to the police.
According to District Police Office Kanchanpur DSP Krishnaraj Ojha, who is investigating the case, it has become difficult as it has become difficult to get people to talk about the incident.
Further, the CDO informed that the probe teams deployed by the District Police Office and the Central Investigation Bureau are investigating the case in coordination. “Other teams are working on their own,” he said, adding the teams are yet to find any clue regarding the murder.
Meanwhile, there was a demonstration in Bhimdattanagar today as well seeking action against the culprit.
Demonstrations have been continuously launched in the district for the past one week with Nepal Students Union leading them. Demonstrations have also been held in Dipayal of Doti and Attariya, Masuriya and Chaumala of Kailali for the past one week.
“We’ll give continuity to our agitation until the murderer is booked,” said Civil Society Dhangadi Coordinator Hari Regmi, adding they had to take up agitation amidst attempts to distort the incident.
