KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 12
People from the Tamang community across the nation are celebrating Sonam Lhosar to mark their new year, today.
This festival is commonly celebrated in Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan, and India but the dates of celebration vary. It generally falls on the first day of Tibetan lunar calendar.
On the occasion of the festival, President Bidya Devi Bhandari, Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun have extended their greetings to those celebrating.
In his wishes, Vice-President Pun reminded the common duty of all Nepalis to protect and adhere to the constitution promulgated after a long struggle and importance of institutionalization of the republic system, federalism, secularism, and social justice.
Similarly, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has wished for good health, longevity and prosperity of all Nepalis on the occasion of Sonam Lhosar.
