The bomb was discovered in an open field at a distance of 200 metres from Hem Raj Poudel's residence in Syauli Bazaar today,  according to SP Deepak Thapa of the Chitwan District Police Office.

Poudel is a maternal uncle of Renu Dahal, who is a joint mayoral candidate from CPN Maoist Centre and Nepali Congress in the metropolitan city.

A four-wheeler vehicle (Ba 11 Cha 9030) parked at Poudel's residence was also vandalised, police said.

Until now, police have  allegedly detained 13 cadres of the Nepal Communist Party for carrying out anti-election activities.

Cases at police have been registered against nine of the arrested NCP cadres.
