Petrol pump workers call off stir

ITAHARI: Agitating petrol pump workers in the Eastern Region called off their protests this evening, allowing more than 450 petrol pumps and depots to resume.

The workers, who were in agitation for a week putting forth 17-point demands, including permanent appointment, claimed that they called off their protests considering the problems of the consumers.

In a press statement, Govinda Prasad Rijal, regional coordinator, All Nepal Petroleum Workers’ Association, said they put off the protests until November 29 considering the consumers' plight. He, however, warned to launch nationwide agitation if their demands were not met by then.
