‘Phase III poll as suggested by agitating forces’

Minister for Home Affairs Janardan Sharma today said that the civic polls date was postponed for the third phase in Province 2 of the Tarai districts as per the suggestion of the agitating forces.
Minister Sharma underscored the need of all the parties to take part in the civic polls abiding by the understanding reached among the forces as the date was deferred to take the agitating forces on board the election process.
Speaking at a press meet organised by Press Centre Nepal in Khalanga of Rukum today, Minister Sharma, clarified that the civic polls in Province 2 was postponed to ensure the right to franchise of the people of the districts. “The election date was postponed as per the understanding between the ruling coalition and the agitating Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal.
However, the RJP-N has been agitating going against its own agreement, which is indecent,” said Sharma. He urged the RJP-N leaders to prepare for elections.
Minister Sharma said that all kinds of security arrangement had been made so as to hold the June 28 civic polls in a fair, peaceful and fearless atmosphere. He said that the government was mulling over adding incentives such as promotion of deserving cops and felicitation of temporary police with the certificate after their term was over to make them more responsible.
Meanwhile, Sharma addressed an election meeting of the CPN-MC at Sisne Rural Municipality of the district today.
