PHIDIM: The Panchthar district headquarters Phidim is now under the CCTV surveillance, first of its kind outside the Capital.

The surveillance was officially inaugurated today.

The CCTV cameras are installed along the Sanibare Hatiya –Charware and Bus Park-District Police Office Gate road sections, so as to protect the Phidim Municipality from untoward activities 24 hours.

The Biratnagar-based Eastern Regional Police Office Chief Keshari Raj Ghimire inaugurated the system amid a special function in the district.

Speaking on the occasion, Ghimire expected that the technology would help police curb the crimes in the district headquarters and eventually help make the town a crime-free area.

The technology was installed by the Community Service Centre, Panchthar in coordination with the District Police Office.
