KATHMANDU, JULY 21

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has announced a 'relief package' to support industries and enterprises hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdowns.

Inaugurating the 18th assembly of the Confederation of Nepalese Industries today, PM Deuba shared that he was planning to introduce a special package on how the industries affected by COV- ID-19 and lockdown could be revived so that they could contribute to the national economy again. He added that he made such a plan after consulting various businesspersons and experts.

"We have accorded priority to vaccinating all the citizens against COVID-19 and utilising their knowledge and skills to boost the national economy and ensure development," said PM Deuba. PM Deuba reiterated that although development was always a priority, saving people's lives was the topmost priority of the government now. "It is a very big challenge to fight the pandemic, so human safety is our first priority," he underscored.

On the occasion, Finance Minister Janardan Sharma said the pandemic had reminded all of us that we should strengthen our economy.

He appreciated the 'make in Nepal' campaign launched by CNI. "The government is for taking the private sector into confidence to revive the national economy dented badly by the pandemic.
