Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is currently on an official visit to Spain to attend the United Nations' Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD4), participated in a private roundtable organized on Monday by the Gates Foundation to advance an independent commission on the future of development assistance.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Oli stated that such independent commissions could play a vital role in bridging the financing gap needed for the progress of developing and smaller nations.
He also called on all stakeholders to undertake unified and coordinated actions to address the financing gap and to strengthen global solidarity in support of development cooperation.
"I am pleased to see progress in advancing this commission. It could contribute to balancing investment priorities and analysis by enhancing assistance for social and economic development," the Prime Minister remarked.
PM Oli further emphasized the need to work toward economic sustainability, urging the global community to assess the overall global economic landscape, climate change, and disaster risk management, in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement.
Prime Minister Oli was accompanied at the event by his Chief Advisor Bishnu Rimal and other senior officials.
