PM Oli to pick ministers from UML

Kathmandu, November 3

The CPN-UML standing committee meeting held this evening decided to entrust party chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli with picking ministers from the party.

After several meetings of the standing committee failed to pick ministers from the party, today’s meeting set a criteria for the selection process and entrusted party chairman Oli with the task.

According to Krishna Gopal Shrestha, secretary of the central secretariat of the party, the UML minister should be loyal to party, should be able to deal in complex situations such as the crisis currently facing the country, represent all regions, groups and communities including Madhesis, Tharus, women and other ethnic groups.

Shrestha said the standing committee meeting also suggested to the PM not to delay expansion of the Cabinet and work hard to strike a deal with the agitating Madhesi parties and ease supplies of essential commodities. He said the cabinet is likely to be expanded tomorrow after PM Oli selects ministers.

The party has also directed the government to regulate and monitor public transport so as to give people a sense of relief.
