KATHMANDU, JULY 21
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is set to take a vote of confidence in the House of Representatives (HoR), this afternoon.
This follows the requirement under Article 76 (4) of the Constitution of Nepal, which mandates the prime minister to seek a vote of confidence within 30 days of their appointment under Article 76 (2).
The Federal Parliament Secretariat has confirmed that the proposal will be included on the agenda for the House of Representatives meeting scheduled to be held today at 1:00 pm today.
CPN-UML Chairperson Oli was appointed as Prime Minister by President Ramchandra Paudel last Sunday, supported by the Nepali Congress.
A total of 138 votes are required for a majority in the 275-member HoR.
In the parliament, Nepali Congress has 88 members, CPN-UML has 79 members. The CPN-MC, the House's third-largest party, has only 32 seats, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has 21 members, while CPN (US) has 10 members.
