PM extends best wishes on International Day of Older Persons
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Saturday extended his best wishes on the occasion of International Day of Older Persons.
According a statement issued by the PM's Secretariat today, PM Dahal said that a good tradition should be established in the country by honoring elderly people.
"Though the state, at present, has not provided enough social security facilities to the elderly people, a good tradition should be initiated by honouring them,” he said.
The Prime Minister said that the government would focus on providing such facilities to the elderly people so that they could live a better life in the coming days.
At the call of the UN, October 1 every year is observed as the International Day of Older Persons since 1991 and Nepal has been marking the Day in collaboration with the Federation since 2007.
