KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 13
Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba today removed four Cabinet ministers representing the Janata Samajwadi Party-Nepal after the party quit the ruling alliance to forge electoral alliance with the CPN-UML for the November 20 parliamentary and provincial elections.
Minister of Federal Affairs and General Administration Rajendra Shrestha, Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Development Mrigendra Kumar Singh Yadav, Minister of Physical Planning and Transport Istiyak Rayi, and Minister of Forest and Environment Pradip Yadav are the ones who have been sacked.
A press release issued by the president's office stated that the president, on the recommendation of Prime Minister Deuba, relieved the four ministers of their duties and assigned their portfolios to the PM.
The president, on the recommendation of the PM, assigned the portfolio of law, justice, and parliamentary affairs to Minister of Communications and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki. The portfolio fell vacant as Govinda Bandi, who was not a lawmaker and could remain a minister only for six months as he could not be elected to the Parliament. The JSP-N quit the ruling alliance over seat sharing for the upcoming polls.
